2021 Team Service Days
LHD is fortunate to have leadership that recognizes the importance of serving and supporting our community. The LHD Community Outreach Committee is grateful we were able to have everyone back together for the 2021 Team Service Days. Thank you to all participants! We served at four organizations this year: Gleaners, Little Sisters of the Poor, Brooke’s Place, and the Patachou Farm.
For 145 years, the kindness of donors has enabled The Little Sisters to offer a home and quality care to thousands of elderly in Indiana.
While Stu and Tate’s faces may tell a different story, the Little Sisters team had a blast working hard and providing maintenance support around the property. The day started with a rapid Covid test for each volunteer. After a brief tour of the facility, the team got to work deep cleaning, raking leaves, and repairing loose boards and rotted wood.
The biggest task of the day was repairing and staining three walking bridges that were worn down and becoming unsafe. With only one paint roller provided and 7 volunteers, it was evident we needed more supplies. LHD was happy to donate additional paint rollers and brushes to help the team complete the project.
Serving the elderly poor in over 30 countries around the world.
The generosity of the community in central Indiana is remarkable—it is because of this that we are able to provide such good care to our residents.
Continuing the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan, our MISSION is to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself.
We are deeply grateful, and we pray daily for all those who assist us in our mission. Learn more about individual and group volunteer opportunities at littlesistersofthepoorindianapolis.org/our-giving-opportunities/.
