2021 Team Service Days
LHD is fortunate to have leadership that recognizes the importance of serving and supporting our community. The LHD Community Outreach Committee is grateful we were able to have everyone back together for the 2021 Team Service Days. Thank you to all participants! We served at four organizations this year: Gleaners, Little Sisters of the Poor, Brooke’s Place, and the Patachou Farm.
Brooke’s Place Volunteer Day
Brooke’s Place was excited to have us in the building and have some assistance. We divided into teams; the cleaning team, Connor, Michael, and Bob, worked together to clean rooms that children of all ages use during their visits. Jeff and Beth worked assembling learning materials, while Julie and Jenny put their cutting skills to the test assisting Brooke’s Place children with art projects.
LHD was given a tour as well as shown a short video regarding all the services Brooke’s Place offers to families. They are currently serving around 500 children and families, and making a significant impact over the Indianapolis area.

Experiencing the death of someone significant can be very isolating for children, and their behavior can often times be misinterpreted as something other than an expression of grief. Risks of unaddressed grief in a child includes isolation, substance abuse, depression, poor school performance, aggression, and anxiety.
Because 1 in 7 children will experience the death of a parent, sibling or close loved one by the time they are 20, Brooke’s Place works to create a community where every young person living with grief feels safe, supported and understood during their personal grief journey.
Brooke’s Place provides support groups, therapy services and community education to empower children, teens, young adults and their families to thrive in the midst of grief.
