This year, the U.S. Department of Labor announced best practice guidance for plan sponsors, plan fiduciaries, recordkeepers and plan participants for maintaining cybersecurity in benefit plans. With the exponential rise of cybersecurity incidents worldwide, it is critical that plans take precautions to mitigate the risk to sensitive plan information and plan assets. Central to these plans is identifying where threats can come from – internal and external – and how to best protect data at its weakest points. This 60-minute intermediate-level webinar will help plan sponsors, service providers, and participants understand cybersecurity threats, how to create strong cybersecurity practices and policies, and online security tips to reduce the risk of fraud. The presentation will be posted on the UBA Website the afternoon before the webinar. Presenter Kate Finley is an associate in Fisher Phillips’ Atlanta office. As a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits Practice Group, Kate counsels employers in a variety of employee benefits matters and through all stages of an employee benefit plan’s life. She routinely advises employers on complex day-to-day issues arising under ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and other federal laws governing employee benefit plans and programs.
