In October of 2020, LHD shared with clients our latest “Letter to Stakeholders”. We discussed accomplishments of 2019 and goals for 2020. The theme of this year’s letter was our commitment to the Community. In 2019 we were able to volunteer in person, but we had to get creative for ways to support them this year. We worked directly with The Patachou Foundation writing cards to meal recipients and sending a monetary donation, and we plan to continue our Pay It Forward initiative in November. In addition to these efforts, we began brainstorming ideas to get our clients in on the donation action.
Using the detachable section at the bottom of the letter mailed to all clients, we asked them to select one of four charities, or write in their own and we would donate $50 in their name to their charity of choice. We received more than 70 responses and donated to 18 different charities in addition to our 4 original options. We’re proud to partner with clients who appreciate supporting the community as much as we do. We look forward to being able to volunteer and provide even more support to our partner charities in 2021!

Little Sisters of the Poor – Continuing the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan, our MISSION is to offer the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to himself.
The Patachou Foundation – One in five children in Marion County is faced with food insecurity: not knowing when or from where meals outside of school will come. We need your help to break the cycle of hunger in our community.
Brooke’s Place – Brooke’s Place provides support groups, therapy services and community education to empower children, teens, young adults and their families to thrive in the midst of grief.
Gleaner’s Food Bank – Every year thousands of Hoosier families have food to eat because of our gracious and compassionate volunteers. Because of their generously-given time and effort, we are able to collect and distribute more than 2 million pounds of food each month. We couldn’t do what we do for hungry Hoosiers without your help.
