Serving the Elderly Poor
Since 1873, the Little Sisters of the Poor have cared for thousands of elderly persons with minimal financial resources in central Indiana, regardless of religion or ethnic origin. Today, eleven Little Sisters of the Poor work with approximately 85 staff members, lay Jeanne Jugan Associates, devoted members of our St. Augustine’s Ladies Guild and hundreds of volunteers to provide a loving home for 70 elderly Residents, in independent living apartments, assisted living units, or in skilled nursing care. The Little Sisters operate St. Augustine as a true home, rather than an institution, so that Residents may live in an atmosphere of peace, happiness, and security for their remaining years.
